SCS hosted its Employee Recognition Day on November 28. This event was an opportunity to show appreciation for our employees and to say thank you for their contribution to the success of our organization. In addition to entertaining activities organized throughout the day, employees received rewards in various categories.

Celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3

Join City of Ottawa on December 3 from 8:30 to 9 am at City Hall to celebrate with the raising of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities flag for the first time in Ottawa.
They request that you register for the ceremony by Monday, December 2 at 4 pm.

Meet a Service Navigator of DSOER in Prescott-Russell
|
|
|
A Service Navigator of Developmental Services Ontario Eastern Region (DSOER) will be at Valoris pour enfants et adultes de Prescott-Russell on December 10th from 10am to 3pm.
If you require support applying for DSO services, you are strongly encouraged to meet with them.
As well, they will gladly answer any related questions about their services, including eligibility, DSO assessment, available resources, etc.
The address of Valoris is 860 Caron Street, Unit 1, Rockland, Ontario, K4K 1H1.
No appointment needed, first come first served basis.
You will have the option to be served in French.

Camps and Activities
Carleton University's Holiday Multisport and Tennis Camps The camps will be using the full range of indoor facilities to keep children active, occupied and safe as they participate in fun sports & activities which may include soccer, basketball, floor hockey, lacrosse and field hockey in addition to other fun activities. City of Ottawa Inclusive Recreation Activities
The City of Ottawa’s Inclusive Recreation unit helps individuals with disabilities take part in community recreation, whether it be through specialized programs or integration in standard programs or the Shared Care program. Search activities here
Destiny's Way Seasonal Camps
The camps program promotes creativity, self esteem, social skills, sensory stimulation, and allows for some good old fashioned fun. See the camps here
Dovercourt Winter Break Camps

DragonFly Winter Term
Registration for DragonFly Winter Term beginning January 2025 is now underway!
DragonFly for learners with Down syndrome is a group of comprehensive programmes offered by The School of Dance, devoted to instilling skills, confidence and independence in academics, movement, and social interactions.
Empowered Academy's Winter Cozy Campers Baking, karaoke, collages, trivia and more engaging activities in a structured day with highly trained staff.

Starr Gymnastics Christmas Camp

The holiday season is on its way and so are the annual Santa Claus Parades and amazing light displays in the Capital region.

Movies
If you haven't already done so, be sure to create a calendar of movies you want to watch this holiday season. If you don't own a movie you would like to watch, keep an eye on the TV schedule, as there is a good chance it will be on TV. You can also turn to streaming services, which allow you to see a movie without having to go to the store. Netflix, Disney + and Google Play are just a few examples.

Music
Listening to music is a great way to get into the holiday spirit. You may already have all the music you need. If you are looking for music and have a smartphone, you can install Spotify and you will have access to a lot of music. You can even create you own playlist for free:

If you have a computer with an Internet connection, you can also find music on YouTube, or simply turn on your radio, they play mostly holiday music at this time of the year.

Holiday Meals
There are places to turn to for free holiday meals. Charities, churches, soup kitchens and even restaurants can serve a meal to a low-income family or distribute holiday food baskets. You can also turn to a food bank for free food items.
